Are wide planks good for open-plan homes?
We’re working on an open-plan renovation and trying to choose the right type of wood flooring. I’m leaning towards wide plank designs because I feel like they might make the space feel more unified and less “busy.” I found a place that seems to specialize in wide engineered boards — here’s their site: wood flooring shop in Edinburgh. Does anyone have experience using wide planks in large, continuous living spaces?

Wide planks are definitely becoming a popular choice for modern interiors, especially in open spaces. Their ability to visually stretch a room makes them ideal for loft-style designs or connected areas like kitchen-living combos. They also provide a great canvas if you’re going for a minimalist aesthetic, where every detail matters. Just make sure the subfloor is even — they show imperfections more easily.
